As part of a larger scheme of regeneration works at Boston station we worked with transit artist Alisha Miller to create an impactful art display along Platform 2. Alisha spent several days travelling up and down the Poacher Line asking both passengers and train staff the question “Tell me something special about the Poacher Line?” Using a mind map, the answers she received inspired her final design which consists of 13 panels, spanning 27 metres, depicting the line from Nottingham to Skegness. The artwork is entitled “Continuity Connections” and showcases all the great things about the line.
The artwork is the first in a series of works planned which include working alongside Boston in Bloom to install planters at the station and an educational programme with the Home Nursery in Boston; which over the course of 4 weeks will see the children explore colour and shape to produce individual mosaics to attach to the planters.
A second piece of artwork has also been commissioned by Jeni Cairns which will be installed on the brick planter at the front of the station.
The station will also be undergoing a major face lift which will include improved facilities and a community room. Watch this space!
